HO WEST DISTRICT ASSEMBLY ELECTS PRESIDING MEMBER.

The Ho West District Assembly on Friday 8th April 2022, has elected Hon. Rita Semanu Eglegbe as the Presiding Member for the Assembly. She is the first female to be elected as Presiding Member since the creation of the District.

The election was conducted by the Electoral Commission led by the District Electoral Officer, Madam Kafui Randolph.

Thirty-seven (37) Assembly Members including the District Chief Executive, Hon. Ernest Victor Apau were present to cast their vote to elect the Presiding Member. One Assembly Member was absent for the voting. The Assembly comprised twenty- five (25) elected Assembly Members,   twelve (12) government appointees, and the District Chief Executive and Member of Parliament who has no voting rights.

Hon. Rita Semanu Eglegbe a teacher by profession and Assembly Member for Biakpa-Fume Electoral Area secured twenty-nine (29) votes representing 78.4% of the total vote cast while her contender Hon. Jacob Dzangba, Assembly Member for Abutia Kloe polled four (4) votes and four (4) ballots were rejected.

The District Magistrate , H/W Comfort Apalayine sworn in the Presiding Member, Hon. Rita Semanu Eglegbe into Office. She also sworn the oath of allegiance and the oath of secrecy.

In her acceptance speech, Hon Rita Semanu Eglegbe thanked all for the confidence repose in her and assured members of a unified Assembly. She indicated her preparedness to work hand in hand with the District Chief Executive and other stakeholders to ensure every electoral area receives its fair share of development.

Hon. Ernest Victor Apau, District Chief Executive thanked members for a peaceful election. He stated his continuous support and collaboration with members to ensure the Assembly achieve the desired development. He further urged members to stay united and work together as a team for the progress of the district.

Present at the Meeting were, the District Chief Executive, Hon Ernest Victor Apau; District Coordinating Director Mr. Wisdom Kporngor; the District Electoral Commissioner, Mrs Kafui Randolph; District Magistrate, H/W Comfort Apalayine; Heads of Department, security agencies among others.
